Dover midfielder Liam Bellamy cut a forlorn figure after the 3-3 draw with Woking in the FA Trophy third round clash at Kingfield.

And it was not only because the home side had scored a stoppage-time equaliser to deny his side a place in the final eight at the first attempt.

Bellamy knew he had broken his hand after falling awkwardly as he set up Stefan Payne to score Dover’s third goal.

He played on through the pain barrier only for his heroics to end in heartache when Scott Rendell scored his second in the 94th minute to earn Woking a replay at Crabble on Tuesday.

But Bellamy knew he wouldn’t play any part in that game and his worst fears were later confirmed by a doctor.

He said: “I’ve broken two bones, one of them badly and am looking at four weeks out. I am so gutted because I’ve worked so hard to get in the side and now I’ve got to give my place up.

“It (his injury) could not have happened at a worse time for me. I have been enjoying my football and being part of a team that is doing so well.

“All I can do is do is let it heal and watch the lads from the sidelines, something that is going to be more painful than this injury.”
