Captain Jamie Grimes couldn't hide his frustration after Barrow AFC came from behind to beat Dover 2-1 in their Vanarama National League opener on Saturday.
Midfielder Nicky Deverdics opened the scoring for Whites with a stunning 20-yarder before the home side replied twice through Andy Cook before half-time.
Grimes, who was making his league debut for Whites after joining from Kidderminster at the end of last season, was very disappointed with the result.
He said: "We let them into the game that should have been ours by costly defensive errors.
"Although we are all very disappointed, we need to learn quickly to kill teams off when we are on top and cut out the errors."
But it wasn't all doom and gloom according to the new captain.
He said: "Taking the positives from the game, we created a lot of chances and if it wasn't for some last ditch defending and goalkeeping heroics we could have come away comfortable winners.
"The best thing for us is that we have another game Tuesday (Dover host Kidderminster at Crabble at 7.45pm) to put things right, and we are all desperate to get our first win."
