Hare leaves Whites with the team 22nd in the table having collected six points from their first nine matches.

The club said: "Dover Athletic can confirm that coach Darren Hare has resigned for personal reasons and left the club with immediate effect.

"Hare arrived at Crabble in October 2018 as part of manager Andy Hessenthaler’s staff following the departure of Chris Kinnear.

"We would like to thank Darren for his hard work and dedication during his time with us and wish him all the best for the future."

Hare, 53, also worked under Hessenthaler during his previous time in charge at Dover.

He previously played youth football at Dover and Gillingham and then played for the likes of Canterbury, Herne Bay and Sittingbourne before going on to manage Canterbury and Folkestone.

Hare was head of youth development at Gillingham and also formed part of the gang of four that took charge of Gillingham's first team before Justin Edinburgh was appointed in February 2015.

It leaves boss Hessenthaler and his assistant Nicky Southall as Dover's first-team management team.

Hare previously served as first-team coach under Jay Saunders at Maidstone in the 2017/18 season, joining son Josh at the Gallagher.

He helped the Stones make a flying start to the campaign but left due to work commitments before the season was out.
