Jake Dixon will be hoping to do his team proud when he gets back to racing this weekend.
The Dover-born biker is preparing for the restart of the Moto2 season which takes place at the Circuito de Jerez, Spain.
Dixon is riding for the Petronas Sprinta Racing team for 2020 and he enjoyed a successful - if not spectacular - one-day test session ahead of his two races.
It was the first time in four months that he got to ride the Triumph-powered Kalex machine and he was taking it easy, avoiding any dramas ahead of the main event.
He improved upon his morning time of 1min 43.555secs to finish the day 23rd, with a final time of 1min 43.455secs. The first free practice takes today (Friday) with racing on Sunday.
“It’s good to be back!” said the 24-year-old, following testing.
“I actually felt quite good from the off, but I feel like we didn’t show everything that we could have done.
“I’ve been a little bit more on the cautious side because it’s a long season in a short space of time. I didn’t want to take any silly risks.
“We’ve got a plan and I feel like I can do a good job in these two Jerez races. I need to stay consistent and finish the races. I feel like I’ve got a good base setting and we’re just fine-tuning things now.
“The main thing is to do the team proud and I think I can do that this weekend.”
Looking ahead to the condensed season more broadly, the 2018 British Superbike runner-up said: “Obviously the realisation is setting in now that we are going to be back racing and that’s a really good feeling.
"I’ve had a lot of time to prepare myself and I’ve been training hard over the lockdown period.
“It’s going to be demanding on the body as we’ve got a lot of races in a short amount of time. It’s good though as we’ll be able to get into a strong rhythm, but you’ve got to try and stay injury free. I’m just very ready to be racing again now!”
