Andy Hessenthaler wants Dover to be hard to beat in the National League as they look to find their form to lift them out off the bottom of the table.

Whites are conceding an average of two goals a game after the first 19 matches.

Manager Hessenthaler wants his side to build on the win and clean sheet they achieved against Maidenhead in their last league match when they face FC Halifax Town on Saturday.

He said: “We have organise them to manage the games. I don’t think they have been managing games previously. Against Maidenhead they were excellent and kept a clean sheet.

“That’s what we will focus on again on Saturday, be hard to play against and go to Halifax and make sure we keep a clean sheet. If we do that we will have more opportunities to win the game and as we know we have forwards who will score goals.

“The fitness and concentration levels are really important. We are getting there but it takes time. We know what we have to achieve and there is a long way to go but we have to get this consistency in the league.

“It won’t be easy as Halifax is a tough place to go but we have to be prepared. We need to get a result in every game at the moment and start climbing the table.

“We have to make sure we go there with the right attitude and get a result.”

Hessenthaler also believes there will not be a hangover from their 5-0 defeat at Bury in the FA Cup on Saturday.

He said: “There wasn’t even a mention of Bury in training on Monday, the boys trained really well and we had to start thinking forward and that’s what we did.

“Unfortunately we didn’t get the result we set out to but Bury are a good side. We will start thinking about Halifax on Saturday now.”

Dover are still trying to make additions to their squad and hoped to have another player before the match against Halifax on Saturday.
