Dan Holman scores goals for a living and that’s what the Colchester United striker is intent on doing now he’s signed for Dover on loan until the end of the season.
Holman, 24, arrived from the League 1 side on Monday and he comes with an impressive record of scoring goals in Conference Premier. He netted 24 times in 55 appearances for Braintree Town before joining Colchester on a two-year deal last July.
Holman, who admitted he didn’t know any of the Dover players before he trained with them for the first time on Tuesday, also scored three times in 12 league appearances during his loan spell at Aldershot this season.
But that’s all in the past and now he’s looking forward to helping Whites finish the season strongly.
He said: “I was really excited when Dover came in for me. They (Dover) are flying and I just hope I can play a part in keeping it that way.
“Scoring goals would certainly help me do that and that’s what my job is.”
The move to Crabble also provides Holman the chance to end his season with some regular football.
He said: “It’s been a bit of a stop start season for me at Colchester.
“I got injured in pre-season, then the manager who signed me (Joe Dunne) left and then I was sent out on loan twice (Wrexham and Aldershot).
“When my last loan spell ended with Aldershot last month, I went back to Colchester but didn’t really get a look in.
“Now I’ve got the chance at Dover and I am determined to make the most of it.”
Holman won’t make his debut in the FA Trophy quarter-final against Bath City as he is ineligible because he played in the first round while at Aldershot.
