Dover Athletic will put out a full strength side for Saturday’s FA Trophy game as Chris Kinnear’s side look to make it to Wembley.

The Whites take on Conference South side Eastbourne in the first round of the competition.

Kinnear believes his side have the quality to go all the way to the final and his team will reflect how seriously he is taking the cup.

He said: “We will be trying to win the game. There’s a chance of going to Wembley and it will probably be a national side who wins.

“At the moment we are one of the top sides and why shouldn’t we try and get to the final and play at Wembley. We might get two games at Wembley, we might not get one.”

The FA Trophy is the only chance left for cup success for Dover after getting knocked out of the FA Cup in the fourth qualifying round against Bromley.

Kinnear’s side were also knocked out of the Kent Invicta Cup after a 6-0 drubbing from Folkestone, albeit against an inexperienced Dover side.

Kinnear added: “We were disappointed we weren’t in the FA Cup. On Monday, we were in the Kent Invicta Cup and gave us a chance to play the academy boys.

“A lot of them hadn’t played against men before and had just played youth football. That gave them the opportunity.

“We have got to give the players and squad the opportunity of playing at Wembley. We’ve got to the quarter final in the last couple of years and we probably should have won both of those. We can beat anyone in this league and this is the top league in the competition.”

Players will not be rested for the cup match and Kinnear is confident his players will give him 100 per cent effort whenever they pull on the shirt.

He also praised the team spirit and unity they’ve shown so far this season, which he believes has been a part of their success.

Kinnear said: “Anyone who is part of our squad is a first team player. There’s no single players. It’s a group.

“You know they are going to give you 100 per cent. They might not be the biggest names or the highest paid players in the league but they are an honest bunch.”
