Goalkeeper Lee Worgan is the latest confirmed departure from Dover Athletic.

The experienced keeper has left to pursue a full-time teaching career but he hasn't given up playing, signing for Chelmsford City.

His departure from Dover comes hot on the heels of confirmation that French midfielder Nassim L'Ghoul has also gone.

Worgan, 36, switched county sides two years ago when he decided to join Dover Athletic from Maidstone United, signing for them as a player-coach.

He had enjoyed a successful time with the Stones, including a winning penalty save to secure the club promotion in the 2016 National South play-off final against Ebbsfleet.

But he needed extra security at the time and was offered a better deal with Dover, ending a five-year stay with the Stones, making close to 250 appearances.

He joined Dover as a coach and a back-up keeper but ended up making 25 appearances for the club during the 2019/20 season, preferred more often in goal than Yusuf Mersin. The Turkish player made only 10 league starts, getting his chance after a 4-0 defeat to Aldershot.

His contract at Dover was cancelled by mutual consent and he said: "A huge thanks to gaffer Andy Hessenthaler for bringing me to the club. It was my first step on the coaching ladder and being part of a manegemrnt team and I'll be forever grateful to him for giving me that opportunity."
