Andy Hessenthaler applauded the plethora of standout performances across the pitch as Dover battled to a 1-0 win away to Ebbsfleet on Monday.

The outstanding Alfie Pavey delivered the decisive goal when he tapped in Anthony Jeffrey's perfectly-driven cross to crush the hosts' play-off hopes at the far post.

Both men typified a resolute display from Dover in which they weathered storms at the beginning of both halves to frustrate Garry Hill's side.

Hessenthaler said: "Alfie (Pavey) was brilliant. He occupied them all afternoon and was out on his feet in the end. He got his goal and he deserved it. He won most of his headers, I thought he was excellent.

"They were all excellent, AJ (Anthony Jeffrey) stood out again with his pace and he made the goal. Everybody put a shift in, Jai Reason, Stuart Lewis ran his socks off again, Mitch Brundle, both full backs, you can go through them all.

"I rested (Scott) Doe on Friday (against Aldershot) but he looks like he just cruises through games, he reads the game so well and had that experience to know where to be alongside Kev (Lokko), who was obviously named Players' Player of the Year.

"It's been a great day, we're eight games unbeaten."

Whites saw two goals ruled out in the first half for offside, before passing off several opportunities to put the game out of reach on the break later in the second period.

An unflagging attacking threat, though not crowned by a second goal, was well-supported by an assured and organised collective effort at the back from Dover.

Hessenthaler added: "I'm very proud. We were under siege a little bit late on, we should have put the game to bed with the chances we had on the counter-attack.

"We were set up for the counter-attack because of the way they played in the end, there were trying to force the issue a little bit.

"We started off slowly in the first half but we grew into the game and got to grips with their shape and then got our full backs out as we wanted to.

"It was a tremendous effort from the boys, another great win and we're on 57 points. I'm a proud manager tonight, it's been a good day.

Having been hurt by late goals earlier in the campaign, Dover absorbed late pressure with confidence to further underline their progression in recent months.

"That goes through your mind." admitted Hessenthaler.

"The lads put their heads on the block, they wanted to win every header and every challenge, you could see that again today so massive credit to them.

"The only nit-picking I could have is that we didn't put the game to bed earlier on."
