There was a tinge of disappointment for Dover boss Chris Kinnear after Monday's draw with Ebbsfleet.

Whites led for an hour at Crabble and were 15 minutes away from ending Fleet's long unbeaten run.

But Darren McQueen cancelled out Ryan Bird's opener and the visitors could have won it late on.

Kinnear said: "We’re a little bit disappointed. Until they scored, we were in control but their tails were up then and they were throwing things forward.

"It hasn’t hurt us too much because all the other sides drew. It’s a weird old league this year.

"We’re very young, learning every game and it was a big game. It was well fought, no nastiness, nobody trying to injure anybody. It was a good game to watch and I would think exciting for supporters of either side.

"It was a competitive game and it could have gone either way."

The draw leaves Dover ninth in the National League with 11 points from seven games.

"We haven’t scored as many as we should do," admitted Kinnear, whose side have found the net just seven times so far in 2017/18. "We just can’t finish the games off when we’ve got ourselves in front because we are getting chances.

"When you’re 1-0 up, whether you’re playing for Dover, Ebbsfleet or even in the Premier League, you’re a little bit reluctant to push on. We looked comfortable and you’re thinking ‘all right, if it’s got to be 1-0, it’s got to be 1-0’ but then they scored and put their substitutes on and threw caution to the wind, which is their prerogative.

"All of a sudden, it switches round and that’s football.

"But I’m pleased with the lads. Their attitude is first-class.

"We let a goal in that maybe we should have stopped but nobody’s pointing fingers, it’s just part of the learning process and hopefully we can improve."
