Whites beat Ashford at a canter

Problems with the Homelands pitch meant that Saturday's friendly between Ashford and Dover Athletic had to switched to the Perrys Crabble Stadium at short notice.
Flints covered the turf, making conditions dangerous for the players. Dover manager Andy Hessenthaler said on Whites' official website: "To be fair to (Ashford manager) Steve Lovell, he didn't see the pitch himself until lunchtime - and agreed we couldn't play on it.
"But we got the game on - that was the most imporant thing - and it proved a great exercise for us."
Although Ashford took an early lead through Mark Lovell, Dover were 3-1 up inside the opening 20 minutes through Lee Browning, Jerahl Hughes and Jon Wallis.
Ashford made it 3-2 early in the second half through Sean Ray, but substitute Shaun Welford restored Dover's two-goal lead before Alan Pouton, who has agreed a new one-year contract with Whites, completed the scoring.
Hessenthaler added: "I was disappointed with the two goals we conceded, both at the start of each half. Very sloppy from us.
"When you consider, we've let in as many goals today as we did against Charlton and Dagenham combined, it tells you the story.
"Apart from that, I thought we were good at the back today and was delighted with a number of performanaces. We are shaping up nicely."
Tonight (Tuesday) former Gillingham manager Hessenthaler will meet up with some old faces when Dover take on the Gills at Crabble (7.45pm)
