Whites gain first win with classy strikes

THE two goals from Craig Wilkins and Tommy Tyne that gave Dover Athletic their first victory of the season on Saturday were right out of the proverbial top drawer.

Their general performance, alas, fell a long way short of that sort of accolade but after four matches without a win, the overriding feeling among Whites’ fans afterwards was: “Forget the quality, just take the three points.”

After this Dr Martens League, premier division, clash, Dover manager Clive Walker admitted: “We played brilliantly at Eastbourne for 80 minutes and got beat 3-1, and today we were poor and won 2-1. But we scored two great goals and it was so important that we won this game.”
