Staines v Dover Athletic
CLIVE WALKER takes charge of his first match in charge of Dover Athletic at Staines on Saturday.
They will be looking for their first away win of the season and also their first league double following their 3-1 win at the Hoverspeed Stadium in September.
But the Middlesex outfit avenged that defeat in November when they ended the Whites' hopes in the FA Trophy.
Walker is not worried about the opposition as he has enough worries getting to know his own side.
He said: "I have not checked where they are in the league, but the most important thing is making sure we look solid and can compete. I have only seen 45 minutes of Dover action all season (at Folkestone on Boxing Day), so I need to work out our strengths and weaknesses in training and then I can start to worry about the opposition.
"I will give everyone a chance in the squad before I delve into the market. This is a massive challenge for me and I can't wait to get started."
And one piece of good news for Walker is that winger Matt Carruthers and striker Chris Wright are both staying at the club after he and Mr Parmenter had clear-the-air talks with the two local players.
Both players have been subject to internal disciplinary procedures after breaking the terms set out in their contracts. But the club have decided to give players a second chance.
Mr Parmenter said: "We have given both players a warning. They both have a part in the future of Dover Athletic but have been told in no uncertain terms what is required of them, if they are to remain a part of the club's plans."
However, midfielder Billy Bone, who failed to make an impact after he joined Dover in February, has been released by mutual consent.
*Next Tuesday, Dover have their first home game with Walker back in charge when they take on Ashford in the Kent Senior Cup quarter-finals (7.45pm).
