Woodnesborough have added to their walking football trophy haul.
Already the Kent 60+ champions, Woodnesborough made it a double with a 2-0 win over Maidstone United in the Kent FA 50+ Walking Football Cup.
Woodnesborough were one of 15 teams battling it out at the YMCA in Maidstone and topped their group going into the knockout stage before a late goal against Margate in the semi-finals booked their place against holders Stones.
A superb opening goal early on in the final put them in control and a rare mistake from Maidstone led to the decisive second.
Kent FA football development assistant Harry Burgess said: “The tournament was a great advert for this rapidly growing sport.
“For a number of the teams, it was their first taste of competitive walking football and everyone played their fixtures with brilliant spirit.
“ I recommend walking football to anyone interested in getting physically active or looking for social activity, the participants regularly prove that age does not have to be a barrier to keeping active.
“I would also like to thank the three referees that meticulously officiated the competition.
“Congratulations to Woodnesborough who have become the 50+ and 60+ Walking Football Cup holders.”
