Dover moved up to ninth in Vanarama Conference after a 1-0 win at Eastleigh - and are just six points off the play-offs with four games remaining.
Eastleigh should have gone front, though, but former Gillingham midfielder Ben Strevens failed to control the ball when he was unmarked in the area in the ninth minute.
The home side continued to press in the early stages and Mitch Walker had to be alert to save a Brian Howard effort.
James Constable then dragged a shot wide for Eastleigh before Dover had their first effort at goal, however Stefan Payne fired high and wide.
An Eastleigh counter-attack, five minutes before half-time, almost produced a goal but Walker was again on top form denying Constable in a one-on-one situation.
Another fine chance fell to Eastleigh before the break, but the effort was tame from Craig McAllister and Walker touches it wide.
After the break Solomon Taiwo has Dover's next chance but he fired over from 20 yards, before a Payne effort just goes wide of the far post.
And an improved second-half performance from Dover got rewarded when Sean Raggett headed home the opener on 70 minutes.
Eastleigh continued to spurn chances, as another effort is cleared for a corner when the goal was gaping.
The home side upped the pressure as the play-off hopefuls pushed for an equaliser, but brave defending from Raggett and Richard Orlu, and the outside of the post was keeping them out.
An late into injury-time Dover almost grabbed a second, but the move fell apart with the final ball.
Dover face Woking, who occupy the final play-off spot, on Easter Monday at Crabble and a home win would certainly get the fans dreaming off a late play-off push.
