A young striker who last season went on trial with a Premier League club has joined Dover from Isthmian South East leaders Ramsgate.
Josh Ajayi, released by Crystal Palace in 2020, had scored 19 goals in the 2021/22 campaign for the Rams before training with Tottenham in January 2022 while interest from Football League outfits also surfaced.
But frontman Chike Kandi has been released by Whites - since joining Farnborough - while fellow striker and top scorer Alfie Pavey, alongside winger Luke Wanadio, have both been transfer-listed.
Dover say they "are now willing to listen to offers" for Pavey and Wanadio.
Despite Ramsgate's good form under manager Steve Lovell, 20-year-old Ajayi has struggled to come anywhere close to replicating that good form this term after a higher-league move didn't materialise.
He only has three goals this season - which includes a brace on the opening day - but now swaps Southwood for Crabble on a deal which will run until the end of the campaign with an option to extend into next season.
It’s new Dover manager Mitch Brundle’s third addition in three days after he brought in midfielder Jack Paxman on loan from rivals Ebbsfleet and defender David Boateng on loan from Premier League Crystal Palace.
Brundle hinted this week he’d look to bolster his forward options, saying: “There’s certain positions we are looking to add in. We know we have had enough chances to score goals.
“We will look to add to that department.”
Ajayi was sent off in a 3-2 win in November over Ashford and had only featured twice off the bench since.
This Saturday, Whites are at Hemel in National League South while Ramsgate, who have signed forward Gil Carvalho from Ashford, visit Three Bridges.
