Dover Athletic were outclassed by Premier League side Crystal Palace, who progressed to the FA Cup Fourth Round with a 4-0 win at Crabble on Sunday.
The game – beamed live to millions around the globe via BT Sport – attracted a sell-out crowd and was the first time new Palace manager Alan Pardew took charge of the Eagles, currently third-bottom of the top-flight.
Defender Scott Dann ensured it was a winning start for the new boss with a first-half double - the first of his career - while second-half strikes from the lively Dwight Gayle and sub Kevin Doyle sealed the win, in which Dover could not muster a single shot on goal.
The 85-place gap between the two sides in the ladder was apparent well before Dann ghosted in at the far post to turn in a volley after 10 minutes after a Gayle cross from the left was glanced on by a Dover head.
Dover keeper Andy Rafferty had already made fine saves to deny Glenn Murray and Stuart O'Keefe but could do nothing to prevent Dann's opener, or his second on 35 minutes.
Dann was left unchallenged to head home a corner from the right, which had been conceded by Richard Orlu after Dann had spurned another chance with a miskick in the six-yard box.
The crucial third goal arrived midway through the second half as Gayle jinked his way in from the left before unleashing a low shot past Rafferty at his near post.
Irish international Doyle completed the rout in the 87th-minute as he turned in a Jerome Thomas cut-back from close range after a defence-splitting pass from the impressive Barry Bannan.
The closest Dover came to troubling Wales international keeper Wayne Hennessey - who never once left his feet - came when a long clearance kick forward from Rafferty before the break dropped kindly to Tom Bonner 20 yards out, only for the Whites man to fail to control allowing the ball to run through to the keeper.
The hosts - who saw a 16-match unbeaten run end - failed to muster a single attempt on goal during the tie.

As it happened...
2.55pm - Palace's two-goal hero Scott Dann admitted Palace were delighted to avoid the potential Cup upset at the Crabble.
The defender said: "I'm delighted to get a couple of goals. We knew there was potential for a slip-up here. We had to be professional and we showed that today.
"Obviously a new manager coming in gave us a big boost, it was an opportunity for some of the lads to come in and show what they've got.
"Hopefully we can continue putting in performances like that in the Premier League."
2.51pm - Full-time. Dover 0 Crystal Palace 4.
2.45pm - 4-0 to Palace. 87 minutes gone and Barry Bannan frees Jerome Thomas whose fine cut-back from the byline was rammed in from close range by Kevin Doyle.
2.40pm - Ricky Modeste comes on for Dover, replacing the unusually quiet Tom Murphy. First appearance since August for the tricky wideman.
2.26pm - Game over. 3-0 after 68 minutes. Gayle jinks forward down the left, bears down on goal and fires low past Andy Rafferty at the near post. He's been brilliant today but might have done better there.
2.23pm - Really should be 3-0. Dwight Gayle and Kevin Doyle are crowded out by the Dover defence before Tyrone Sterling hacks clear, however Tom Bonner's challenge on Gayle looked like a stonewall penalty to me.
2.19pm - Stuart O'Keefe should have made it 3-0, blazing over after being teed-up in the box by Wilfried Zaha.
2.03pm - Back underway at Crabble. Glenn Murray has gone off at the break for Palace with Republic of Ireland international Kevin Doyle coming on to replace him.
1.46pm - Half-time. Palace lead 2-0. Can Chris Kinnear rouse the Whites?
1.38pm - Chris Kinnear's predecessor at Dover, Nicky Forster, has his say... #naughty
1.35pm - Dover have a mountain to climb as Scott Dann has made it 2-0 to Palace with a thumping header from a corner after 35 minutes.
Dann could have had his second seconds earlier only to miss his kick allowing Richard Orlu to hack behind.
1.25pm - Dover boss Chris Kinnear admits his side looked 'very nervous' in the opening stages of the game.
He said: "We looked very nervous. We haven't got any players with Premier League experience. We've sorted it out a little but and I think we're getting into it."
Dover have switched Sean Raggett into more of a central role to deal with the early pressure from Palace.
1.10pm - Sorry Greg, early pressure from Palace pays off as Scott Dann puts the Premier League side ahead after 10 minutes at Crabble.
Andy Rafferty had made three fine saves in the opening minutes but could do nothing to prevent the Palace defender slotting in a far-post volley after a Dwight Gayle cross glanced off a Dover head.
The goal sparked wild scenes in the away end with red and blue flares being let off.
1.05pm - Another celebrity fan joins the Dover bandwagon. London 2012 gold medal winning long jumper and TV personality Greg Rutherford.
12.58pm - The teams are out. Hands have been shaken and the stands are rocking. Kick-off is moments away. 85 places separate the teams in the football ladder, but today they go toe-to-toe on the same pitch.
12.50pm - No Churchillian speeches from Dover boss Chris Kinnear this lunchtime: "Things are going well here, after 16 unbeaten, all I'll say to them (before the players go out) is just go out and do the same - you feel as if you should say something special but it'll be 'go and do what we do.'
"I'll enjoy it nomatter what, but I'll enjoy it more if we get a result."
12.45pm - Fancy a flutter on the big game? Well Dover are widely available at 7/1 to cause an upset this afternoon while Palace are a short-priced 1/2 to progress to the Fourth Round.
Want a cheeky tip? How about Sean Raggett first goalscorer at 40/1. Set-pieces are a big part of Dover's attacking threat and the big defender has been in fine form of late.
12.35pm - Alan Pardew sounds a little bit nervous about what is in store in his first game at the helm at Palace.
He said: "It's going to be a bit tricky. Dover are on a great run, there's a great atmosphere here. It should be a great Cup tie.
"It's potentially slippery. We had to park down the bottom and walk up. It's not like a Premier League game, it's all a bit different. It's great fun."
12.25pm - Ashes hero and former Kent cricket star Geraint Jones is among those in his seat nice and early in the sell-out crowd at the Crabble.
12.20pm - So Chris Kinnear names an unchanged side for Dover while Alan Pardew's first team in charge of the Eagles is a strong one with plenty of Premier League experience.
Glenn Murray is named in the team just days after being recalled from loan while Dwight Gayle and Wilfried Zaha will be aiming to cause the Whites backline problems.

Team news expected in the next 20 minutes.
Whites sit 12 in the Vanarama Conference after an astonishing run of 16 games unbeaten in league, FA Cup and FA Trophy.
Chris Kinnear’s side have won 1-0 in each of the three previous rounds in this season’s FA Cup and have kept clean sheets in nine of their last 10 home games – excluding the Kent Senior Cup.
Whites have already matched their best ever achievement in the world’s oldest cup competition – reaching the Third Round in 2011 when they were knocked out at Huddersfield - by ousting Eastbourne Borough, after a replay, and Football League sides Morecambe and Cheltenham in the First and Second Round respectively.
Palace have won just two of their last 14 away games in the FA Cup, though they have only ever lost one of their 16 ties against non-league opposition.
