Hess: Mental strength is the key

Harlow v Dover

Dover manager Andy Hessenthaler will be telling his players to keep their winning mentality in a bid to nullify the threat of Staines.

The Whites dropped their first points at home on Saturday after drawing with Carshalton and Hessenthaler knows second-placed Staines will be ready to pounce if they stumble -– despite their nearest rivals losing at Harrow in midweek.

“Staines are relentless and they just keep winning and grinding out results. They are not going to lie down and every time they see us slip up that will give them a lift.”

Despite the threat from below, Hessenthaler sees no reason why his players will slip up ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Harlow.

“We’ve got 12 games left and if we can go 12 games unbeaten then we’ll win the league,” said Hessenthaler.

Captain John Keister is a doubt after picking up a hamstring injury against Carshalton, Alan Pouton is on standby. James Rogers returns from suspension.
