Dover v Carshalton
Andy Hessenthaler believes his Dover Athletic side are becoming victims of their own success as they march on relentlessly towards the Ryman League Premier Division title.
Whites’ chalked up their 14th win in 14 home league games this season with a 3-0 success over Hendon on Saturday.
Hessenthaler said: “The crowd were a bit quiet (aganst Hendon) and I think the problem is that, playing at home, we have become the victims of our own success.
“Because we’ve won 14 out of 14 the crowd are just turning up now thinking we are going to win.”
On paper at least, fifth-placed Carshalton pose a serious threat to Whites’ perfect home league record.
The Surrey side are unbeaten in their 13 away league games this season and made Dover work hard for their 1-0 win at Colston Avenue in October.
Hessthenthaler added: “Their away record is impressive and it’s one of those games where something has got to give, but we know that if we keep winning then nobody can catch us.”
Left-back James Rogers is ruled out by a one-match ban after being sent off against Ramsgate a fortnight ago.
