Femi Ilesanmi believes Dover can win promotion this season and thinks the last four draws is just their blip.
Ilesanmi scored a wonder goal for the Whites in their 2-2 draw at Maidstone on New Year’s Day.
He has backed his teammates to be right there challenging at the top of the table come the end of the campaign.
He said: “I think we can go all the way this season. We’ve been up there all year.
“Right now we haven’t won a game in four but we aren’t losing, which is a positive. Hopefully these four draws are our blip and if it is I will take that all day.”
Ilesanmi gave Dover a first-half lead against Maidstone when he smashed the ball into the top corner from 30 yards, which was his first of the season.
Despite his fantastic solo effort the Whites conceded a last minute goal to only get a point and draw twice with Maidstone in a week.
He said: “It feels like a loss but I’ve got to give credit to the boys, playing four games in nine or 10 days and they’ve given everything every single game.
“The boys had been giving me a bit of stick saying I hadn’t scored yet and I should have had a couple this season.
“When I got the ball it just opened up for me and I just thought I’m going to hit this and thankfully it went into the top corner.”
The scheduling in the National League saw Dover play four matches in 10 days and come away with a draw in each of those games.
Ilesanmi played every minute of those matches and said it can be tough over the festive period.
He said: “It’s very difficult especially as the last game was on 3G. It’s just about managing your body over the Christmas period.
“It’s about being disciplined and not going out with your friends and not drinking and overeating as you know you’ve got games coming up.”
