Chris Kinnear admits spirits are high in the Dover camp but urged his players to keep their cool during the final 10 games of the National League season.
Dover returned to the play-off places and sit in fourth place after winning their latest game in hand, 4-1 against Lincoln on Tuesday, although Kinnear insists nobody in the camp is paying attention to play-off permutations just yet.
The Whites manager said: “We are just ticking over. The lads are doing a great job at the moment. It really should have been seven or eight on Tuesday.
”The lads don’t drop their heads when things aren’t going right. That’s why we can enjoy this. They came back to 3-1 and it could have been a bit nervy but we went away and got a fourth. It was really enjoyable.”
"The spirit at the moment is obviously very high but we mustn’t get carried away.
“When we lose we don’t get too down, when we win, we tell them to enjoy it but come back in on Thursday focused on the next game.”
“I’m pleased with how it’s going, you tell me we’re fourth, but it’s pointless really, there are 30 points to play for. I don’t know who is above us and who is below. Why would I? The next game is the most important.
“We did start (looking ahead) with maybe 15 games to go and we had a bit of a bad run so we’re just going to take each game as it comes. We have inexperienced players. We can only worry about what we can control.”
After back-to-back games against non-league big-guns Tranmere and Lincoln, Whites head to Yorkshire minnows Guiseley on Saturday (3pm) and Kinnear added: “Guiseley need a few points to be safe. It’s not always easy against sides down there.
“The pitch isn’t easy. They are not a bad side.”
Ricky Modeste (knee) and Liam Bellamy (foot) should return to the squad, although Tyrone Sterling (hamstring) is doubtful.
