Dover boss Chris Kinnear felt his team could have scored six in their Boxing Day derby win at Welling.
Whites created plenty of chances in the opening 50 minutes and were only denied a bigger winning margin by Welling's man-of-the-match keeper Michael McEntegart.
"I was delighted with the way we played," beamed Kinnear. "We could have ended up with six.
"It's two games on the trot that the opposing keeper has won man of the match.
"I wouldn't say we were creating chances for fun but we worked hard to create them against a side that has drawn with Forest Green and beaten Lincoln."
Kinnear refused to criticise his forward players for their wasteful finishing, instead he focused on the way they got into those positions.
"We're creating chances," he said. "As long as you are creating chances then you've always got a chance.
"It's when your team is only getting one or two chances (that you are worried). We had seven, eight, nine really good chances but it was all about getting three points."
Dover nearly made a mess of their afternoon, however, with Welling hitting the woodwork and scoring in stoppage time.
"I was disappointed that we switched off," said Kinnear, after Sam Corne was left unmarked to net for Welling. "The players know why it happened. It looked like we were coasting but Welling are never going to rest. They work hard against you and it's part of the learning experience.
"I'd like to think next time that wouldn't happen again. They had nothing to lose, played three at the back and threw people forward. They are on a bad run at the moment with results but it's not through spirit."
Dover host Bromley on Monday (3pm) and Kinnear added: "It's down to the lads to refuel and get ready for Monday.
"Bromley know the way we play and we know the way they play. It should be a good game, we always tend to have decent games with Bromley."
