Dover Athletic have eight points from a possible 15 in their Vanarama National League campaign.
And assistant manager Jake Leberl says there is no doubt Whites, who are unbeaten in their past four games with two wins and two draws, could have had a lot more given the way they’ve played.
Leberl said: “We should have maximum points on the board the way we have played in each game.
“There is no doubt we should have started with a win at Barrow after we led early and created enough chances to bury them but we didn’t and we ended up losing 2-1.
"That was a disappointing way to start but football is strange, though. Sometimes you need some luck to get three points and other times a really good performance won’t get you anything – like against Chester (0-0) and Aldershot (1-1).
“The win over Altrincham last Saturday was important because we got the three points we deserved. It’s about winning games in this league and we want to find that winning mentality – we’re certainly building towards it.”
And Leberl is targeting maximum points this weekend when Whites play two of the promoted sides, at Bromley on Saturday and at home to Boreham Wood on Monday.
Ex-Whites Sean Francis, Moses Ademola, Ben May and Adam Birchall all play at Bromley while Gillingham’s Callum Davies, who was on loan at Whites last season, is now on loan there, too.
Leberl, who won the Conference Premier title with Dagenham in 2007 and spent 10 years playing in it, said: “They both know about us and we know about them, especially Bromley, as there are four former Dover lads in their squad. There should be no surprises.
“There are no easy games in this league, so we’ve got to focus on what we’re doing and get the job done.”
