Dover’s new loan signing Keanu Marsh-Brown felt the pressure to hit the ground running after not playing first-team football for more than two months.

The 25-year-old signed on loan from Forest Green Rovers last week and bagged a brace in Whites’ 2-0 win at home to league leaders Macclesfield Town.

His last game at his parent club was on January 13 and he had a point to prove when lining-up for Dover on Saturday.

Marsh-Brown said: “It was one of the biggest reliefs for me. Being back out on the pitch was a lot of pressure as I haven’t really played for a long time. It gave me a boost of confidence to go on and get the second.

“I wasn’t really playing and ended up training with the youth team. It got to the point where I was bored and needed to play some football towards the end of the season.

“I took it upon myself, and my agent, to come and play and be happy again.”

The winger was pleased with his contribution to the team as Dover made it three wins in their last three games.

However, there was a tinge of disappointment that he didn’t score his hat-trick with Macclesfield’ goalkeeper pulling off a world-class save to deny him.

Marsh-Brown added: “We knew it was going to be a tough game here today against the top of the league side.

“When it’s 1-0 against a side like this and you know they are going to keep plucking away and they have the quality. That’s why they are top of the league so to get the second goal was a big relief for everyone.

“I’ve never scored a hat-trick and my little brother scored one last week. I tried to get my first one here but the keeper pulled off a great save.”

Dover fans may remember Marsh-Brown as the man who scored against them in the 2015/16 season play-off semi-final to knock Whites out against Forest Green.

His parent club lost in the final that year but got promoted through the play-offs the next season.

Marsh-Brown added: “I will try and give as much experience as I can, I’ve been in this position before.

“I’ve got to a final and lost and I’ve got to a final and won so I will try and give everything I can to this bunch of boys.”
