Ricky Miller looks set to miss his first six games as a Peterborough player after being handed a retrospective ban for an apparent bite on an opponent while playing for Dover.
Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony told fans on twitter on Wednesday afternoon: "Unfortunate news re Ricky Miller, he is banned for the first six games of the season - they'll pass quickly though."
When asked what the ban was for, MacAnthony replied: "Pulled a (Luis) Suarez I think, bite-wise. We knew before signing him to be fair - it is what it is."
Miller's ban relates to an incident in the 54th minute of Dover's National League game at Guiseley on March 25.
The 40-goal frontman scored twice and also hit the woodwork in Whites' 4-0 win and though he wasn't booked during the game, an incident with an opposition player shortly after half-time is believed to have sparked an investigation.
The FA subsequently charged the 28-year-old former Luton man with violent conduct in April, a charge which the striker denied, requesting a personal hearing.
Miller was cautioned 13 times and received one red card for Dover last season before signing for his local club Peterborough on a free transfer in May.
