THERE will be no Saturday off for Dover Athletic players, even without a fixture.
Manager Steve Browne will have his squad in for training in a bid to eliminate the errors which saw Whites concede a last minute equaliser in Tuesday’s clash with Harrow Borough.
Browne was disappointed with the performance, as he wanted to show supporters the recent upturn in away performances was proof the club were heading in the right direction.
Browne said: “I am very upset with the showing and I told the players that after the game. We sat back and did not pass the ball as we know we can and gave the ball away too freely.
“We have a great deal to work on this week as we need to show a little more character in holding on to a lead.”
The point leaves Dover still second from bottom and five points within the drop zone, after two wins in 48 hours moved Wealdstone to 18th place and showed how quickly things can change.
And Browne is not panicking yet, saying: “We still have 69 points to play for and are taking each game as it comes. There is a great deal to play for and as I have said all along, not one side we have come across has looked better than us.
“As long as we continue to work hard we can progress. We have strong characters in the squad who are keen to help this club move and we are confident we can do that.”
The second of the club’s three consecutive home games sees Leyton provide the opposition on Tuesday. The East End side are currently in fourth place and have the best away record in the division. They are unbeaten in their last eight away games.
New Dover signing Paul Armstrong, who scored on his debut on Tuesday and is on a month’s trial with Whites, played for Leyton in the early part of the campaign when he bagged four goals in four games.
