Pair buoyant after sailing success

CHRIS Catt and Mark Heather of Downs SC, sailing their 29er, were the overall winners of the Kent Schools Sailing Association’s annual regatta hosted by Dover Water Sports Centre.

Catt and Heather (and the RS 300 of Chris Rebbeck (Broadstairs SC) led the fleet early on in the first race, with the RS 200 of Mitch Webb and Laura Alldis (Downs SC) always pressing hard on their heels. Catt and Heather held on to win from Rebbeck, with Webb and Alldis third.

The second race started in an increasing sea breeze and saw the sister pairing of Clare and Helen Stubbs making good progress through the fleet, closely chased by Waite and Colette Blair. Up at the front, Rebbeck claimed victory over Catt and Heather, with the Stubbs sisters third.

Going into race three, it was any of the first three from race two who could take the overall prize. By now, the sun was lowering and with it the wind. Catt and Heather started well again and went on to claim victory ahead of the Stubbs sisters and Rebbeck.
