Jack Parkinson says Dover are looking strong in pre-season and are ready to hit the ground running this season.
Parkinson powered home a header as Dover continued their pre-season preparations with a clinical 8-0 win at Southern Counties East League, Premier Division side Corinthian on Tuesday night.
That made it four wins from four in the lead-up to the new Vanarama National League season, which kicks-off at Wrexham on August 6, when Dover will seek to follow-up their record fifth-placed finish last term.
Parkinson said: “We’ve looked strong. It’s only pre-season and the only thing that matters is getting the minutes under your belts but we have kept the core of last year’s team, we’ll add a couple of quality signings and hopefully we can pick up where we left off last season.”
Next up for Chris Kinnear’s men is a practice match at Gillingham’s training ground today (Thursday, 6pm) with a trip to Sevenoaks on Saturday (3pm) and League 1 Millwall heading to Crabble on Tuesday (7.30pm).
Parkinson said: “I have a lot of mates at Millwall so I’m looking forward to it. A goal would be lovely but it should be a good test for us.
“We’ve beaten Wimbledon and Orient already and if we beat Millwall, then people will probably start saying we’ll win the league but it’s not about results at this stage, though, it’s all about getting ready for the first game.”
At Corinthian, Tyrone Marsh continued his record of scoring in every pre-season appearance while the starting backline featured both Sean Raggett – who hopes his future will be decided this week – and fitness coach Loui Fazakerley who has impressedafter his recovery from a long-term Achilles injury.
