Mitch Pinnock believes he is playing the best football of his young career so far after scoring twice in Dover’s 4-0 win over Hartlepool.
Pinnock has been a first-team regular under Chris Kinnear this season after spending most of the 2016/17 campaign on the bench.
The 23-year-old wants to use this as a platform to kick on for the second half of the season and bring in more goals for the club.
He said: “I’ve got a few assists this season and hadn’t been scoring so much so I was delighted to score.
“It’s good to be out there rather than watching for the last couple of years and just give it my all every game. I’m the fittest I’ve ever been and I’m hoping I can carry on and help the team win games.
“I wanted 10 goals and 10 assists at the start of the season. I think I’ve got eight assists but only three goals, so I’ve got to up that in the second half of the season.
“I think I’ve got to have a few more shots and be a bit more selfish but I'm just pleased the team did well and got the three points.”
Pinnock also turned provider for Ryan Bird to score his 11th goal of the season and Dover’s fourth on Saturday.
He also praised his team-mates' efforts at Crabble, which saw Dover run out comfortable winners over Hartlepool.
“It was a good bit of play from Norts for my first goal, I thought he was brilliant, slipped me in and hit it towards the front post. The goalkeeper should have done better but who cares? It went in the back of the net.
“Anthony Jeffrey’s been doing well since he’s come here. He’s sharp and he had the awareness to look up so I’ve got him to thank for my second goal. It was a tap-in for me but you’ve got to be in the right place.
“Birdy was also brilliant at holding the play up so we could get at them. The three of us linked up well up top causing problems. The front three were brilliant.”
