Sean Raggett believes Dover's FA Trophy Third Round replay win at Guiseley proved that they have learned from last season's painful quarter-final defeat to Bath.
Whites were beaten 2-1 by Conference South Bath after being held 3-3 at Crabble a year ago, and defender Raggett admitted that game was at the back of his mind when Whites travelled to Nethermoor Park on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old centre-half said: "This tie was very similar to the Bath one last season when we were expected to win, and then had a replay on a Tuesday night, but we put in a really professional performance and I think (what happened) last year helped us do that.
"The conditions were horrendous, it was cold and windy, the sort of night when you can easily get beaten but they didn't have too many chances because as a team we were pretty solid."
Raggett said the squad were delighted to keep a second clean sheet in four days, but conceded 10-man Guiseley made Chris Kinnear's side work a lot harder than the 3-0 scoreline suggested.
He added: "Three-nil made it sound different to how the game went. We played really well in the first half, but in the second half they came out and gave it a real go.
"They had a lot of the ball and made it quite scrappy but when they started pushing men forward looking for an equaliser we were able to hit them on the break.
"We'd not had a clean sheet for so long, so it had been an issue, and as a team we've been talking about what more we could be doing.
"There's always a bit of banter (within the squad) but the forwards are just as keen for clean sheets as we are because we know we're not always going to be able to score three or four goals. If you're keeping them out at the other end, we know we'll have a better of chance of winning the game."
Raggett admits the away quarter-final tie at Nantwich on Saturday week gives Whites a good opportunity to reach at least the Trophy semi-finals, but he says no-one at Crabble is taking anything for granted against the Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division side.
Nantwich earned their place in the last eight courtesy of an 89th-minute winner against Stourbridge in their delayed Third Round tie on Tuesday.
"We never go in under-estimating sides," said Raggett. "Nantwich beat Stourbridge to get to this stage and Stourbridge beat us in the FA Cup (2-1 at Crabble in November).
"I don't know a lot about them but I'll do some research myself and Chris (manager Chris Kinnear) and Jake (assistant manager Jake Leberl) will come in with a scouting report so we'll be well prepared."
As for Wembley Raggett says at the moment, he is not looking past the next round.
He added: "We're all just taking it one game at a time. Wembley would be nice but it's still a long way off. We've still got to win a few."
