Young Dover Athletic defender Sean Raggett scored the winner in last season’s 1-0 pre-season friendly victory over Gillingham at Crabble.
And the England C representative would love to do it again when Whites play the League 1 side at the venue again on Saturday (3pm).
It is a game that has special meaning for 21-year-old Raggett as he lives in Gillingham and supported them growing up.
He said: “My dad always used to take me along to watch them. Supporting them is well and truly in the family.
“That makes it feel surreal playing against them, let alone scoring against them but I am a Dover player so I can’t afford to have any mixed emotions.”
But who will his parents be cheering for?
He said: “They come to watch me play every week for Dover, so hopefully they will be cheering for me.”
Dover have won their last two pre-season games, 5-0 at home against Eastbourne Borough and 2-0 at Wealdstone last Saturday.
Raggett has been impressed with how the preparation for the Vanarama National League campaign, which starts at Barrow on Saturday, August 8, was going.
He said: “The gaffer has added some quality players to the squad and we are looking strong.
“Jamie (captain Jamie Grimes) has fitted in well since he arrived from Kidderminster and looks like he has been here for years.
“I would also have to say that this squad is probably the fittest group I’ve seen in my time here – we’ve worked hard.
“There is no doubt that we’ll be in tip-top shape when the league season gets under way.”
Dover’s pre-season campaign continues at Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday (7.45pm) before the final game at Havant next Saturday.
