Chris Kinnear has praised the attitude of loan striker Adebayo Azeez after he scored a last minute winner for Dover on Saturday.
Azeez scored his first goal for the club after 11 appearances in their 3-2 against Gateshead in the National League.
The three points has lifted Whites back into the play-off places.
Kinnear said: “I’m pleased for Ade Azeez, he’s come from Cambridge with a great attitude and he could have just not bothered.
“But what did he do? He looked the part and came on and put them under pressure. A lot of people wouldn’t have gone near the goal and turned away but he followed up and it made a lot of people very happy. But we mustn’t get too carried away.”
Gateshead took the lead after 20 minutes after a long range strike from defender Theo Vassell.
Giancarlo Gallifuoco got Dover back on level terms seven minutes before half-time before Ryan Bird’s spot kick put them 2-1 ahead.
A penalty for the visitors six minutes before the end of the match, converted by Danny Johnson, made it 2-2.
Azeez then pounced on a shot that was spilt by the Gateshead goalkeeper to grab the deserved win a minute from time.
Kinnear said: “The goals we conceded were disappointing but that’s part of learning but we still have the second best defence in the league.
“We were the best side. Their first goal was ridiculous, their left-back has just caught it so sweetly and it hit the post and went in.
“It just shows you the spirit of the lads, they didn’t get too down when they went behind.”
Dover are back up to seventh place in the National League with one game left to play at Woking on Saturday.
They could drop down to ninth if Ebbsfleet and Bromley win their games in hand midweek.
