Dover's winless run in the National League is up to 10 games after they were beaten at home by Barrow.

Visiting substitute Jack Hindle scored twice in the final 20 minutes to give Barrow their first away win of the season.

The result at Crabble means Chris Kinnear's men remain next-to-bottom with just one win from their opening 14 matches – at home to Havant & Waterlooville on August 14.

Since then they have taken just three points from a possible 30, and have not won in five home matches.

The Dover side showed two changes to that which had drawn 2-2 at Sutton in midweek to earn their first point in three games.

Bedsente Gomis came in for the suspended Aryan Tajbakhsh while forward Tobi Sho-Silva was restored to the starting line-up in place of David Smith who dropped to the bench,

Barrow, 15th, started the game by dominating possession and forced the first save from Mitch Walker on nine minutes when he had to push John Rooney's bouncing shot out for a corner,

The home front two of Inih Effiong and Sho-Silva were largely starved of any service before the break and it was 21minutes before Whites created an opening when Josh Passley laid the ball into the path of George Smith who fired well over from 20 yards.

Barrow almost fashioned a breakthrough midway through the half when Luke Burgess teed up top scorer Tyler Smith but his low drive was well saved by Walker going sharply down to his right.

A 25-yard free-kick from Rooney went comfortably over just after the half hour but the visitors almost went ahead on 41 minutes when Josh Kay's ball in was swept goalwards by Burgess and Smith deflected his effort just wide.

Just before that Whites had been forced into a substitution with Smith going off with a cut to his head after a clash with Connor Brown as they went in for a 50/50.

Kadell Daniel was his replacement and the winger was quickly into the action taking three of the four corners Whites forced at the close of the half. The third of those went right across the face of the Barrow goal without anyone able to apply a decisive touch.

Whites should have taken encouragement from that but they were again indebted to Walker early in the second half when he went away to his left to parry Kay's fierce close range effort.

Sho-Silva had his fight real sight of goal on 59 minutes, but with two defenders for company he shot straight at keeper Andrew Firth.

Boss Kinnear immediately replaced Effiong with Jamie Allen who was quickly into the action only to misdirect his header from Moussa Diarra's cross.

Diarra then went close himself, heading straight at Firth after getting up well to meet Mitch Brundle's cross.

This all came during Dover's best spell of the contest, but they failed to capitalise and Barrow broke the deadlock in the 70th minute.

Just two minutes before Walker had done well to deny Hindle with his legs, but the sub was not to be denied a second time, sliding in at the far post from Smith's low cross.

Dover went closest to an equaliser on 78 minutes when Daniel's curling free-kick from 20 yards was well turned aside by Firth, but with eight minutes remaining Hindle made the game safe by drilling home a low shot from just inside the box.

As if things could not get any worse Whites also lost Diarra to injury meaning they had to see the game out with 10 men having used all their substitutes.
