Stalybridge Celtic 0 Dover Athletic 2

Crisis club Dover go into today's derby clash with Margate having thrown themselves a slender relegation lifeline with Saturday's victory at Stalybridge.

Whites knew that nothing less than three points would suffice against their fellow strugglers, and goals from Kevin Seabury and sub Chris Allen duly lifted Dover off the bottom of the table for the first time for two months.

They still have a mountain to climb to avoid the drop, but this win will have given new manager Clive Wilson and his players a big lift ahead of the Margate showdown.

Whites were helped by Stalybridge having two players sent off, Ben Futcher in the first half and then Kevin Parr in the closing seconds after he became involved in a scuffle with Dover sub Jamie Day, who was also red carded.

In an otherwise undistinguished encounter, Dover led 1-0 at half-time through Seabury's penalty after Kristian James was fouled by Parr, and then sub Chris Allen made it 2-0 six minutes from time following good work by Leon Kelly.
