DOVER Athletic slipped closer to the relegation precipice after an unlucky defeat at home to Hereford on Saturday.

Hereford substitute Steve Pierce scored the winner ten minutes from time with a clever 25-yard chip over Dover goalkeeper Paul Hyde.

The beleaugered Crabble club’s best chances fell to Scott Ramsay and Kevin Seabury but, not for the first time this season, Whites were up against an inspired goalkeeper as Hereford’s Stuart Jones produced several great saves.
