Sean Raggett has turned his attention to reaching the Football League with Dover after another transfer window passed without a move.
Dover boss Chris Kinnear revealed the club had received no approaches for the 22-year-old during the transfer window, despite an array of scouts flocking to Whites games and clubs as big as Liverpool, Everton and more recently Crystal Palace being linked with a move for the defender in the past 12 months.
Whites fans believe one of their best achievements in the January transfer window was to hold on to Raggett until at least the end of the season and even team-mate Stefan Payne tweeted this week “I don’t understand why (Raggett is) not in the Football League.”
Raggett said of the speculation: “It never affected me. There are always rumours flying around but that’s all they are – rumours. I don’t take any notice. My mates do forward me stuff when my name gets mentioned but I don’t pay too much attention to it.
“I just want to stay focused on my football, keep performing well for Dover and I think my performances have been all right.”
He added: “Dover is a great place to be. We have done incredibly well the past few years. Why would anyone want to leave?
“We want to finish the season strong, make sure we get in the play-offs and try to make Dover a Football League club – what an achievement that would be.”
Raggett also revealed he is aiming for a double-date at Wembley this season, with Whites back on the FA Trophy trail with the last-16 visit of Guiseley on Saturday (3pm).
He said: “Who doesn’t want to play at Wembley? It is a great opportunity for us. A couple of years ago Cambridge United managed to get there twice, in the Trophy and the play-offs – it would be great to do that.”
