STRIKER Tommy Tyne will again be ruled out by a recurrence of his hamstring problem for struggling Dover's home match with Moor Green on Saturday.
Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Cambridge City leaves Whites in 18th place in the table. But they have the chance to restore some morale against Moor Green who are lying just one place off the bottom.
The reaction of manager Clive Walker to Dover's defeat at Cambridge City could be summed up in two words: sheer frustration.
After watching his side condede two goals in the last 10 minutes, the Whites boss said: “It does your head in to lose a game like that, because it was another game that we should have won but we conceded two more stupid goals.”
As Walker pointed out, Whites were winning matches in similar situations last season.
There was at least one piece of good news for Whites this week. They received another home draw in the FA Cup - their sixth in a row - when they were drawn at home to Maidenhead in the second qualifying round. The tie is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 27.
But, because ground-sharers Margate are playing Northwich Victoria in the Conference at the Hoverspeed Stadium on that date, the tie will take place on Friday, September 26, or Sunday, September 28.
Whites’ chairman Mike Kemp said: “Under FA rules, we could insist on playing the game on the Saturday. But we want to play fair with everybody and, if the Margate was switched to midweek, then Northwich would have a difficult journey.
“At the moment our preference is to play the tie on Friday night, and we are waiting to hear from Maidenhead whether they would be happy with that.”
Winning teams in the second qualifying round will be awarded £3,750 in prize money.
