FEW could argue with the final score, irrespective of the fact that barely a single decision went Dover's way on the night.

Although Whites coped well enough during the first opening third of the game, mounting pressure towards the end of the first half ensured that keeper Pat Mullin had further opportunites to enhance his growing reputation.

He made good stops from the Dickies' strike partnership of the much-travelled Bradley Allen and former Crabble favourite Danny Hockton.

Whites went behind three minutes into the second half. Hockton timed a run perfectly to power home a header from Leon Hunter's inswinging corner from the left.

Moments later, Whites would have equalised but for a last ditch interception from Robin Trott that denied Shaun Welford a tap in. But from their next attack, Billercay made the game safe as Ludovic Quiston's great ball in from the left hand touchline found Hockton with time and space to drive low into the bottom right hand corner.

Whites should have made things interesting when Welford missed a gilt edged chance, failing to get his head to Dale Skelton's lob into the box.

From the Dover perspective, beaten but far from disgraced sums up the 90 minutes reasonably well.
