Whites determined to salvage some pride

SUSPENDED: Dean Readings
SUSPENDED: Dean Readings

Wealdstone v Dover Athletic

DOVER Athletic play their first game since their relegation from the Ryman Premier Division was confirmed at Wealdstone on Saturday.

A Nick Barnes penalty nine minutes into stoppage time condemned Clive Walker's side to a 3-2 defeat at Tonbridge last weekend, leaving them seven points adrift of safety with only two games left.

Typically, Walker insists they will be going all out for victory in the final two league games of the season, plus what is sure to be an emotional Kent Senior Cup final against Margate at Folkestone on May 2.

Dean Readings misses the Wealdstone trip through suspension and Tom Hickman is out injured for the remainder of the season, but otherwise Walker has a full squad to choose from.

Meanwhile, the club have been boosted by the news that chairman Jim Parmenter will be making cash available for Walker to add four or five experienced players over the close season.

Walker confirmed: "There is a bit of cash available. I have to look to the future now and get the best team I can. We have got to start again and start building the club up again.
