DOVER take on Tiverton at Crabble tonight in confident mood after Saturday's impressive Dr Martens, Premier Division, display against the runaway league leaders Tamworth.

Andy Arnott and Jamie Day returned to the side on saturday after suspensions, and Dean Readings played despite suffering concussion at Tiverton three days earlier.

Whites Dover took the lead on six minutes when Tommy Tyne made the most of a poor defensive header and rifled home a low cross shot past Darren Acton in the home goal. It was Dover's first goal in four games.

Minutes from the break the visitors were two up. Matt Carruthers crossed from the left and Tony Browne appeared at the far post to squeeze a first-time shot between Acton and his near post.

Tamworth eventually scored with 10 minutes left. Dover failed to clear the ball and Matt Fisher scored from close range. After that, there were a few anxious moments for Dover keeper Paul Hyde and his defence, but the visitors held out against a side that looks almost certain to be promoted to the Conference next season.

Home defender Paul Hatton was yellow-carded twice near the end for tackles on Carruthers.

Dover: Hyde, Browne, Norman, Chapman, Readings, Arnott, Dyer, Spiller, Day, Tyne, Carruthers. Subs not used: Paul Sykes, Mark Munday, Simon Glover, Kristian James, Craig Cloke.
