Dover Athletic registered their first away win of the Vanarama Conference season after coming from behind to record an emphatic 4-1 success at AFC Telford on Saturday.
The hosts took the lead when a free-kick into the box was headed against the bar before being turned-in by Mike Phenix after just 19 minutes.
The hosts continued to boss the contest and Mitch Walker denied Josh O’Keefe’s header soon after while Rod McDonald curled a shot straight at the keeper soon after.
Phenix fired another chance over before Whites hit back against the run of play seven minutes before the break when a Craig Stone free-kick was looped over keeper Jonathan Hedge by the head of Tom Bonner.
Connor Essam was denied by Hedge’s feet five minutes after the break while half-time sub Jake Reid beat Hedge only to see a defender clear off the line.
Richard Orlu was fortunate to escape with conceding a penalty for a handball just before the hour but as Whites continued to improve, they turned the game around 14 minutes from time when Luton Town loanee Ricky Miller – on his debut off the bench – saw a shot blocked by Hedge, only for Reid to slam in the loose ball.
Reid saw a second ruled out for offside four minutes later and Miller was denied superbly by Hedge before seeing another goal chalked-off, again for offside.
Miller did eventually get a deserved goal three minutes from time, sliding home after a Tyrone Sterling pass, and there was still time for Reid to net his second in stoppage-time after being set-free to fire into the corner against his former club.
Dover, who rose to 16th, return to Crabble to face high-flying Barnet in a televised game on Wednesday night.
