DOVER Athletic have made another addition to their squad with the signing of young striker Israel Amadi on a two-year contract.
Amadi was recommended to manager Clive Walker by Whites' midfielder Kenny Dyer.
Walker says he is fairly happy with the squad for the new season but, given the club’s slim financial resources, he is desperate to avoid long-term injuries.
“We’ve not got a bad squad but we don’t want any stupid injuries - that is my biggest fear,” admitted Walker. “But all football clubs have injuries and suspensions and you’ve just got to get through the tough times."
As his side head into their final pre-season friendly, against a Charlton Athletic XI on Saturday at the Hoverspeed Stadium, Walker already has a number of players on the long-term injury list, including Nicky Humphrey.
The young centre back is likely to be out of action until Christmas as his agonisingly slow rehabilitation from a serious ankle injury, which has sidelined him since November, is taking longer than expected.
The initial prognosis was for a comeback in September.
