BILL WILLIAMS, who resigned as Dover Athletic boss in May to become boss of Kingstonian, has made a surprise return to the Conference's bottom club as general manager. Williams and Kingstonian have parted company in the wake of the Ryman Premier League club's cash crisis which has seen nine players leave on free transfers.

Dover chairman Jim Gleeson said: "We are delighted to welcome Bill back to the club and his experience in football will undoubtedly increase our prospects of attracting additional revenue to enable us to compete on a level playing field with our Conference colleagues. Bill will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the club, particularly with respect to generating further income from the business community of Dover."

Gleeson stressed that Williams' appointment did not affect the position of team manager Gary Bellamy, who would continue to have full control over team matters.

Williams said: "I am delighted to be back at Dover. I spent some of my happiest times at the club and I am convinced that with some effort we can bring real success for the club and the town."
