Winners of the Green School Awards 2023 announced from Kent and Medway schools

Schools across Kent and Medway have been recognised for their “outstanding” environmental initiatives.

The Green School Awards celebrated the hard work of students who have helped make their school a more eco-friendly place this year.

The awards ceremony, which took place on Thursday, November 23 at the Ashford International Hotel, saw 25 winners receive certificates for their initiatives.

The projects included tree planting, bee keeping, composting, litter picking, upcycling, bottle refilling and Meat Free Mondays.

Ten of the 25 winners were also recognised with additional awards in the following categories:

The additional prizes awarded to these winners included a school litter picking set, a day visit to Kingswood Outdoor Activity Centre, a tour of the Brogdale Collection and a media masterclass with TV presenter Liu Batchelor.

Some schools also brought videos and exhibits along with them to the ceremony to show first-hand how their initiatives work.
