Since its foundation Kent College has always excelled in the academic, musical and sporting spheres.
KC believes passionately that the development of individual talents unlocks student potential, causing character, confidence and creativity to grow that will stand students in good stead for the rest of their lives.
It is an inclusive school but the individual attention and support that pupils receive enables them to work towards the highest standards.
The scholarship programme allows the school to nurture those who already have talents in particular areas and are designed for pupils from all backgrounds who would benefit from the unique educational experience offered at KC.
What scholarships are available?
Scholarships are awarded for academic achievement, Art and Design, Drama, Music and Sport for entry in year 7, year 9 and year 12.
Academic ambition
Students at KC continue to achieve some of the best results in Kent at A Level and for Cambridge Technicals and the college is regularly in the top 10 schools in the UK for the International Baccalaureate. This means that the IB scholarship programme is very popular for Sixth Formers wanting to continue to study a wider range of subjects after their GCSEs.
Top class sports coaching
KC boasts a number of highly experienced coaches who have played at county, national or international level. Their expertise makes all the difference for KC’s aspiring athletes as they support and guide them to thrive in their chosen sport.
Embracing the performing arts
Five choirs, seven orchestral groups, 33 peripatetic music teachers, 21 co-curricular arts clubs, LAMDA lessons, numerous performances and productions in the Great Hall as well as nationally and abroad each year provides the young performers with a cornucopia of opportunities to develop their musical and dramatic talents.
The impact of being a scholar
Scholars should be “loving what they do” as they develop in a high performance environment. By contributing and playing an active role within their chosen field, scholars pick others up to raise the standard of everyone within the school community, by being a part of something bigger that makes Kent College a better place through their contribution.
KC wants its scholars to thrive and be the leaders and standard bearers of their interests.
What the scholars say:
“As a Music scholar at KC we have so much support and guidance. The individual tuition sessions are fantastic and we are always inspired and challenged to reach for excellence. The most exciting part of being a music scholar is that after all the hard work you have the opportunity to perform locally, nationally and abroad.”
“Being a sports scholar at Kent College is a very fulfilling experience. We benefit from amazing facilities, professional player-coaches, one-to-one development sessions and skills workshops. We have specialised teachers for our different sports who have enabled me to progress successfully to play at county and national level.”
What the Independent schools Inspectorate says:
“Across the school pupils’ desire to produce excellent outcomes is clear, and they respond well to the high expectations, enthusiasm and passion of their teachers, in line with the school values of ambition and curiosity.”
