A “back to basics” approach, many families in Kent believe that a Grammar School is the only educational route to success and sometimes overlook the breadth of opportunity that is available in other settings.
This year on GCSE results day STS Several subject areas saw grades improve compared to 2023.
“We look forward to working with those students who are continuing with us in September and building further on their positive approach to their studies,” said Mr Sharples, Deputy Headteacher, who was pleased with the effort from the students.
“We were especially pleased with grades in creative subjects which were significantly above the national average.”
At GCSE and beyond, the traditional subjects at STS are balanced with vocational options to ensure that the school caters for the needs and interests of all of its learners. The students benefit from plenty of extra-curricular activities and trips too.
Their program of events includes a trip to the battlefields of the First World War in France and Belgium. This three-day tour provides students with a humbling and life changing experience that gives them the opportunity to reflect on the values and courage of the “lost generation” of 1914-18.
Visits carried out by the school are often linked to an area of the curriculum and always aim to provide an enriching experience. This visit is relevant to several areas of their school curriculum but above all, it helped build character through developing an understanding of values such as discipline, service, loyalty and resilience.
Students are further supported by an extensive pastoral team, recognised as a real strength of the school by students and parents alike. The students know when they need support, their Form Tutor will not let them down.
Sandwich Technology School is determined to help as many students as possible achieve their future dreams and aspirations in a non-selective environment and is very proud of the fact that virtually all of its students’ progress on to either apprenticeships, employment or university.
