Sponsored Editorial

Anyone considering embarking on a career in the construction industry can now apply to study a full-time or part-time construction course at the University of Greenwich’s Medway Campus in Chatham, Kent.

The campus is currently offering two construction Level 4 CertHE (certificate of higher education) programmes at the Faculty of Engineering and Science so you can retrain, upskill and be job-ready for roles as a Construction Design and Build Technician or Construction Site Supervisor.

.

The practical, employer-led programmes have been designed to support adults over the age of 18 to gain the knowledge foundation and qualification to enter skilled employment in the design and build or site supervision areas of the construction sector.

Both courses will be run by the Programme Team at the Medway campus – an experienced group of academic and industry professionals whose teaching is informed by research and consultancy work. Trained postgraduate researchers will also contribute to seminar training with their latest research insights.

Students will have the opportunity to put into practice their skills in well-equipped workshops and simulated workplaces. Living and studying on the Medway Campus itself opens up possibilities due to its location, with students benefiting from industry connections within the South Eastern industrial belt or London and the London Boroughs.

Whether you opt for the Construction Design and Build Technician CertHE or Construction Site Supervisor CertHE, there is the option to complete the course within one year on a full-time mode or part-time over two years, meaning you can study in conjunction with employment.

.

These Level 4 qualifications will also serve as a springboard to those looking to progress to degree apprenticeships or undergraduate programmes in construction management, civil engineering or built environment.

Let’s take a look at each course in more detail…

Construction Design and Build Technician CertHE

Design and Building Technicians support architects, surveyors and other teams with the planning of projects, including checking for health and safety risks in the design of projects, ensuring compliance of projects and considering any environmental impacts.

This new programme from the University of Greenwich has been designed to meet the demand for skilled building technicians in the construction industry. Students can look forward to learning about topics including ‘Construction technology’ and ‘Health & Safety and Wellbeing’.

Construction Site Supervisor CertHE

Site Supervisors are responsible for overseeing the work of all personnel on a construction site and ensure construction projects run smoothly and to deadlines.

.

The Construction Site Supervisor CertHE allows students to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to enter the workplace and secure highly paid employment in a rewarding industry. You will study topics ranging from Health & Safety to Surveying and CAD, taught by experienced qualified academics, allowing you to gain a qualification in one year of study.
