Flexi-School Dyslexia provides flexible, specialist, teaching for dyslexic pupil's during school hours

FSD (Flexi-School Dyslexia) is a unique provision offering 8-16 year olds, struggling with dyslexia & related issues, the opportunity to access specialist, multi-sensory teaching in small groups of six (1:3 teacher ratio) during the school day. Pupils attend FSD on a part-time basis registered as 'Attending any other approved educational activity' (Code B) so they keep their place at their mainstream school in order to enjoy a full curriculum.

FSD's mission is to help as many children as possible that are not responding to traditional teaching styles to achieve their potential and rekindle/support their love of learning and self-esteem, which we find has, sadly, often been broken.

They say ‘success comes from adversity’; and the story behind FSD (Flexi-SchoolDyslexia) is a great example. Following a horrific Primary School experience, the Founder, Narinda Algar started Kent’s ONLY specialist teaching provision offering part-time options for children struggling at school with dyslexia.

Second venue in Ashurst, Tunbridge Wells, opens

It has always been the school's ambition to help as many children as possible, so the team at FSD is particularly pleased to announce that the school has opened a new provision in September 2024 for the residents of the Weald of Kent and Sussex. Flexi-School Dyslexia's SECOND LOCATION is at the Ashurst & Blackham Sports Ground & Pavilion.

Parents who have accessed the incredible support at FSD state that it changed their lives as their children become happier and more self-aware at home, saying that it has prevented ‘mental-health issues’ and ‘school refusal’.

Children from Kent and Sussex can now enjoy affordable, part-time support from specialist, teachers trained in SpLD dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, study skills, and metacognition. Pupils still maintain their place at mainstream school or enjoy the freedom of home- schooling, whilst coming to the FSD 'heaven' a few times per week.

FSD gives every child the opportunity to gain strength and skills from staff, other pupils and through self-discovery

Narinda’s dream to help other dyslexic children, struggling to navigate the school system, has meant that FSD has grown and grown, from 1 to 6 to now over 500 children over the past 13 years. She is extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with these incredible and unique brain types, supporting parents and carers along the way.

Success is achieved through "The FSD Way"

Narinda says: "The outcomes for our pupils have exceeded all parental, school and pupil expectations. This year alone, the Year 6’s that accessed the relevant sessions at FSD passed their SATs after being told that they would not achieve ‘expected’ standards."

Narinda: "All staff have a plethora of experience either with having/having children with dyslexia and are passionate about giving children, who are bright and enthusiastic to learn the access to education they deserve; building their self esteem and confidence along the way; by teaching them how they learn best."
