More than £5,000 worth of summer fruit has been stolen from farms across the county.

Police are hunting thieves who allegedly swiped strawberries and cherries from land in Graveney, Tonge and Yalding.

Officers are now appealing for information.

There were three reported thefts in Church Road, Tonge, which took place between July 18 and July 19, July 22 and July 26, when £1,600 worth of fruit was stolen.

Officers are also investigating a reported theft in Head Hill Road in Graveney, just outside of Faversham, between July 7 and July 22, when around £2,400 of fruit was taken.

Between July 26 and July 27, around £2,000 worth of fruit was reported stolen near Kenward Road in Yalding and police believe the incidents may be linked.

Investigating officer PC Marc Pennicott said: "These thefts are all very similar so we believe they may be linked and I would encourage anyone with information to get in touch."
