Tinselled terriers took their bow wow in Faversham as goodwill was extended to all dogs.

The Lady Dane Veterinary Centre in Graveney Road regularly hosts sessions for dogs and their owners but the Christmas puppy party was a festive first.

"It was the first time we’ve tried fancy dress," said Chris Freed, veterinary surgeon and firm partner. "To see all the pups running around in their Christmas tutus and Santa hats has been quite a blast."

A good dozen young dogs enjoyed party games such as pass the parcel, 'musical sits' and a Crufts-style obstacle course. And fun seemed to be had as much among the owners as their furry friends.

But there is a serious side to these sociable sessions.

"As a practice we believe in trying to provide the owners of dogs in particular, but other animals too, with enough experience and enough knowledge for them to make the most out of their pets," said Mr Freed.

"Puppy socialising and educational training is very important and there’s a lot that can be done with just the right amount of help at just the right time."
